Vienna Day Four

Let it go, let it go…
There wasn’t meant to be a Vienna Day Four, we planned to go to Budapest and the hot springs for the last two days, but the train was so expensive in the end that it didn’t seem worth it and with the stress of maybe missing a train and then our flight… well, we were wanting a holiday, so instead we booked another night in Vienna and took it easy. It meant we had time to go a little further out of the city centre to see the Palace.
A trip to Vienna would not be complete without seeing the Schönbrunn Palace. I haven’t ever been amazed by the insides of these buildings (they all look so similar with the golden plates, paintings of previous owners posing in grand outfits and lots of vases from the Far East). So once again, we just looked at the outside bits and you can get into the gardens for free and enjoy the maze (sadly only from April)! It’s very beautiful and worth checking out on a sunny afternoon and it’s so big, literally HUGE. We walked around for about an hour and barely met any people, from green lawns to forests to a hill to climb… there’s lots to see and it’s a lovely way to just wander around and spend some time relaxing.



Also, we needed more cake. Cafe Central was all over the guide books and there was a queue outside, which must be a good sign. Being English, we got in the queue and waited to see what would happen. The cakes were amazing. THIS is the place you have to go to for afternoon tea. It’s super posh, the cakes were actually divine and, well, I’m just going to show you all the cakes we ate. OMG people – nommy!!
