    Grand Café Breitenbach Tomasa

Coz ya gotta have faith… It was the middle of the week and Jason and I were just chilling, listening to our bellies rumbling. Too hungry to even go to the kitchen and make a slice of toast, we grabbed some money and headed to our second-closest restaurant. We’ve been here before with an AirBnB guest and they have a lovely roof terrace – perfect on a sunny day. The staff is friendly, the food is pretty normal and I guess it’s a little pricey for Berlin, but compared to London it’s proper cheap. I don’t really know what kind of food type they are going for, last time we…

    A balcony full of nom…

Green fingers… I have been checking out German balconies recently and noticed yet another ‘reason’ I’m not German – they seem to fill their balconies with beautiful flowers of all colours. My balcony has food, food and a little more food. My friend bought me a flower for my birthday (she is also the reason I have one batch of flowers on the balcony – something needed to be bright and pretty apparently) and an AirBnB guest bought us a flower in a pot too. During college I even worked in a posh flower shop, but… I’m still all about the food. I want to be self-sufficient one day. When…

Sabor Latino – best Peruvian in Berlin?

I’m just a little bit caught in the middle… A friend who also has the dream to go live in South America has been talking about going to this restaurant together for a while. She has a lot of Peruvian friends and Sabor Latino is their favourite place to eat. We were the only non-Spanish speaking people in the restaurant. It was buzzing with staff who knew all the customers and everyone was having a good time. It’s always a good sign when it’s full of Latinos who are obviously regulars here. We were recommended the Ceviche, which was by far the most delicious dish – a mix of seafood…

    Getting our craft on!

You’re one in a minion… Over the last few days we have gotten a little crafty! My Japanese grandmother left for Japan again (insert sad face here) and she misses her life in London a lot, so I made her some London-themed coasters. These are super easy and quick to make and I love how they turned out. As we will be finally going back to London for the shortest ever visit soon, I also made a fabric ball with pulley-tags for my lovely friend’s baby who I FINALLY get to meet – cannot wait! And last night, Jason and I sat down to paint. They turned out absolutely adorably…

    Back To School

Teacher’s Pet… So Jason’s back to the Japan School today, teaching English for the start of another year. When children in Germany start their primary school, they get an amazing treat on their first day – a Schultüte [School Cone] absolutely filled with goodies. I remember as a child starting the German school in the 3rd grade, so I didn’t get a Schultüte, but my brother began in the 1st grade and I was so jealous when I saw his tiny hands holding the most enormous cone-shaped present. I still haven’t received a Schultüte yet (Jason take note…) and I thought it would be hilarious to get one for Jason’s first day at school…

    Animal upon Animal – Boardgame

Today I’d like to introduce you to one of the most accessible (and possibly funniest) game we have in our collection. Animal upon Animal (Tier auf Tier in German) is published by HABA, a company known for its extensive range of games aimed at children. Animal upon Animal is no exception to this but as the box states, it can be enjoyed by all ages up to but not exceeding 99 years. Sorry all you Centenarians out there! This is a simple dexterity game of stacking different wooden animals on top of each other until one person manages to place their last animal successfully on the animal mountain and wins…

    My foot

And this little piggy went all the way home… This is going to be super short and sweet, but just wanted to let you all know that we are fine and happy – but my grandmother is visiting so we are busy being tourists,  being hot and being a little sweaty. OMG how hot can it get here? There is literally nothing you can do other than just go to the lakes and swim… I know… it’s a hard life – haha! Anyway, just wanted to say hi and sorry for the lack of posts recently, but it means we are super busy doing epic things that you can read…
