Photo Booths – Fun and cheap giggles in Berlin

Papa-Paparazzi… One of the first things we did in Berlin is pop into a Photoautomat and take some fabulously silly photos of ourselves eating doughnuts (I hope you understand how absolutely hilarious we are here… the word Berliner means doughnut in German – haha). We used to have these photo booths all over the place in London and I have some really cute photos of my brother and I as kids, barely tall enough to get our heads into the photo-frame, even though we are sitting on the provided chair. I still have some old photos for passports and ID as well and some amazing ones of my parents and…

Müritz National Park – The perfect weekend trip from Berlin

I will give you 24 hours baby… We love exploring and finding new things in Berlin, however even in London we used to grab our stuff, jump in the car and go off to somewhere random for the weekend. We have carried on this tradition in Germany too and luckily for you this is one wonderful trip we are going to share with you all. I think it may have actually been my favourite mini-trip in Germany yet! We rented a car and drove up to Waren, a small town in the UNESCO area of the Müritz National Park. The drive up was pretty in surroundings and pretty crazy in weather…

Domäne Dahlem – A farm in the middle of Berlin

With an oink oink and a moo moo there… Domäne Dahlem is a farm in the South-West of Berlin, a ten minute walk from our apartment. We found it through a friend who lives in the area, otherwise you’d never know it is there. Even the entrances are hidden away, so unless you know where you’re going, it’s a local secret. So you’re lucky I’m telling you! There are so many animals to watch, from tiny piglets and their parents, to chickens, cows, horses and at the moment on Wednesdays, you can go to listen to free lessons on bees. There is something for every season – a fairground for spring,…

    Bunting

Rule Britannia… As you may know, the Queen is coming to Berlin, so in true British tradition, this weekend I made some bunting! I used scraps from my favourite bits of material and it took about an hour to make this little wall hanging for our hallway. I LOVE it – super happy and also really happy at how I managed to get completely straight sewing lines – practice is slowly making perfect 😉 Our place looks much cuter now – maybe the Queen will pop in for a cuppa?

MariKon – how to tidy perfectly

In every job that must be done there is an element of fun… Maybe some of you have heard of Marie Kondo and her method of cleaning? If not, it’s a good thing you’re here! This life-changing festival will make you feel more free, less-stressed and overall happier. I heard from two friends who used to live in Japan about Marie Kondo and her KonMari method of extreme tidying. I really don’t like tiding up. I come home, chuck the things I am wearing on the floor (our washing basket is just too small and full of stuff that needs to be on the delicate wash and I’m just too lazy).…

Harz National Park – Holiday with Dog!

The one with the wagg-ly tail… OMG I’m mortified. I just realised it has been over a year since we went to the Harz National Park in Germany and we still haven’t told you about our lovely little holiday with dog. Five of us squeezed into a car and Jason drove us to the middle of Germany. We stayed in a tiny town called Quedlinburg – a medival town with UNESCO status. We rented out a lovely and very odd house – some of the furniture was hundreds of years old and it meant we could cook and play games all night if we wanted to. The town is quaint and the houses…

    Salt n Bones –

Don’t worry… we have meat in ze building… We have finally found the perfect place for meat!! Can I get a ‘whoop whoop‘ please? Although the burgers at The Bird are pretty hard to beat, the service is appalling. At Salt n Bone the meat is amazing, they have tons of beers and ciders to choose from and the staff are so friendly I felt like I was back in America. We went there hungry and sat outdoors in the sunshine. The three of us shared some scotch eggs (yup – this can be made into a posh food), kimchi and the 2-person meat-platter. Now if I’m honest I could have eaten the…
