    White Christmas

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas… I know Christmas is all over, but I wanted to let you all know how lovely our few days back home with our families in England was. We were spoilt absolutely rotten and ate a roast dinner every single day for 4 days. On the last evening, I literally had to undo my trouser button as I could barely breathe. It’s always so wonderful to go home and feel British again. We didn’t get to see many friends at all this time, but we spent lots of time with family. We were up in Liverpool for Xmas Day and woke up to a light…

    My New Year Resolutions

Should auld acquaintance be forgot… After missing New Year’s in Berlin last year, we have decided to stay this year. It’s snowing a LOT and too cold for me to go outside, so we shall probably hide in our home and have a looksie at the fireworks in the local area. I have to admit, it’s been a fabulous year – I LOVE our new apartment and how it feels like home. Our freelance work has been super fun (travelled all over Germany and Austria – and I shall blog about it one of these days) and Jason’s loving his teaching work. The blog seems to be enjoyed by you…

    Latest Cheesecake post

Hungry hippo… On a recent wander of the Steglitz area, we got a bit chilly and popped into Confiserie Reichert. We lowered the average age of the place by about 40 years. Elderly couples and friends gathered around tables chatting away the afternoon. There are a lot of delicious-looking cakes to choose from and purely for our research, I picked the cheesecake, this time topped with apricots. I was good, creamy and thick, but the base was a bit too soft and wet for my liking and it didn’t overwhelm me with mass-loads of flavour. The hot chocolate on the other hand was divine – you can see it in…

    Gotamago

When you wish upon a star… In Japan I had a lovely friend called Lichia. We didn’t see each other that often – although we lived in the same Prefecture, we lived far apart. However, once she returned to Canada and I returned to London, we stayed in touch. She starting drawing and making greeting cards with fun little word plays. From selling cards in her local shops to fairs, her business is now booming – she’s even been featured on Buzzfeed and TV! We had a look at her website Gotamago (she’s also on Etsy) and we got the cutest poster for us and for Jason’s dog-loving family. We…

    Advent Calendar

It’s Christmas!! Yup, it’s the most-wonderful-time-of-the-year – apparently anyway. I won’t be a bah-humbug and say that surely summer is nicer – as it’s summer on the other side of the world. I spent one Xmas in Ghana at the beach and it didn’t feel like Christmas at all. I think I will always need some cold, dark wintery weather in order to feel like Santa is on his way. We opened our last Advent Calendar door today. Sadly in Germany you only get 24 doors, as today is the day everyone celebrates. Presents and food come out and families gather to spend time together whilst decorating the tree. For…

    Christmas Cookies – 2014 Edition

Christmas is almost upon us and it is, by far, my favourite time of the year. Last year we decided to get into the holiday spirit by making some amazing little biscuits that could be kept on the side of your mug of hot chocolate.Ā This year, we wanted to find a way to take our biscuits to the next level. And we did just that. Check out these guys! Along side our biscuits from last year, we madeĀ little melted snowpeoples! They were clearly feeling a mixture of emotions about their predicament but I can gladly tell you that they are all delicious! The basic recipe is exactly the same, except…

    Happier without my cast

Gimme Five!! Oh wait… I can’t… ouch šŸ™ So, it’s been three weeks now and I’m still in pain. I had a cast on for a week and then a wrist guard (much better than the cast which made any kind of movement actually impossible and it was so heavy my arm hurt from holding it up constantly). I’m still wearing the wrist guard, but I have now returned to work. I literally cannot wait for it to be perfect and better again – it’s a good thing I have five days off over Xmas to rest it! Some reasons I can’t wait to be back to normal: I can…
