My New Year Resolutions

Should auld acquaintance be forgot…
After missing New Year’s in Berlin last year, we have decided to stay this year. It’s snowing a LOT and too cold for me to go outside, so we shall probably hide in our home and have a looksie at the fireworks in the local area.

I have to admit, it’s been a fabulous year – I LOVE our new apartment and how it feels like home. Our freelance work has been super fun (travelled all over Germany and Austria – and I shall blog about it one of these days) and Jason’s loving his teaching work. The blog seems to be enjoyed by you all and I’m enjoying writing up little stories for you all to read.
Now, another year is about to begin and it’s time to think about New Year Resolutions. The ones I made last year were more successful than I thought they would be. I have taught myself to crochet and have to admit I’m pretty good. Youtube taught me all my skills and I made a mass-load of Christmas presents, whilst even teaching friends how to do it. Jason also got involved and made his mum a scarf for Xmas. I’m super delighted to be getting crafty!
Making a dress was a big step for someone who couldn’t actually sew. Although I didn’t make a dress, I made a skirt, dinosaurs, a baby bib, coasters, bags and an amazing clutch. I will have to show you them all soon as I’m pretty chuffed with how it all came out. I’ve learnt how to do zippers too! So all in all, pretty amazing!

I didn’t get to see my Scottish friend in the end. I tried many times to get hold of her and get over there, but to no avail. Nevermind – we travelled loads this year and maybe it will happen next year 🙂
This year, once again, I have three Resolutions:
1) Food-related: I want to get locally produced vegetable boxes delivered to Berlin and cook more but produce less waste. We used to get vegetable boxes delivered to us in London and we were constantly making random new food with weirdly-shaped produce that I had never even heard of. I also want to make kimchi and marshmallows this year – yummy!

2) Craft-related: I want to make items and sell them online. So the plan is to learn how to make an online shop. I would like to have sold one item by the end of the year. It’s hard for me to do this – I give all my handmade things away and the ones I keep I’m too scared to use. My apron doesn’t get used as it might get dirty – makes no sense I know, but that’s the way it is! Included in this resolution is my plan to make curtains for our living room. Wish me luck!
3) Music-related: I used to play the ukulele in London. I LOVED IT! I have the most beautiful instrument and if I’m totally honest I have played it just once all year. It makes me sad, as I loved making music. So in 2015, I plan to get Jason a guitar and we will record a song together. I have no idea what song it will be, or if it will be any good, but I want to play more and hopefully this will make me do it!
So, do you have any New Year’s Resolutions? Are you good at keeping them? I’d love to hear all about it…
