Swimming in the Sun

The summer used to be a time when I would need to draw the curtains extra tight so I could still see my computer screen. Nowadays, it would seem I’m getting better at taking advantage of the warmth from the big light bulb in the sky and went swimming with Vanessa at an outdoor swimming centre in Neukölln, Berlin. When I say we went swimming, I mean we mostly raced small children up the steps of the water slide.

THE CRAB
… and occasionally pretending to be a crab. Naturally.

The pool is called Sommerbad Neukölln, located on the north eastern tip of the old Tempelhof airport. The weather was perfect and the water is impeccably clear, which completely surprised me for an outdoor pool. There is a large swimming pool with a massive 83m-long water slide, a second pool with diving boards and a kids play pool.
Check out a 360 panorama here of the facilities from the top of the 10m diving board.
There is a food stand where everything from ice cream and candyfloss to sausages and beer are on offer. I decided against the mid-swim beer this time, but I must say that I’m curious.
I’ll leave you with a few more pics from our adventure at the pool. If you are looking for a place to cool down in the Berlin summer heat, this is definitely the place to go.
