OMG – Michael Bublé at the 02

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It’s you, it’s you, you make me sing.
You’re every line, you’re every word, you’re everything.

Jason is possibly more excited than me! How is that even possible? So Jason and I have almost been together for two fabulous years and as a treat, he got us tickets to see Michael Bublé. For those of you who have spent time with me, you will know all I listen to is Bublé’s music. On repeat. All day long. In fact, I am swaying to his music as I type right now…

It all started a long time ago. I remember hearing his hit Everything years ago. It was playing on the radio and I literally stopped what I was doing to listen to the song. It was just lovely. It made me so happy. I waited for the DJ to mention who the song was by, but he didn’t. Those were the days before Shazam, so I spent hours waiting for the song to be played again. That was also the year I was temping at a local hospital. While we worked, the ladies and I listened to Heart Radio all day long. The song played at least once an hour. It was wonderful. It would make me stop what I was doing and just enjoy the 3:33s listening to his beautiful voice.
Since then, I have bought every album. I have always wanted to see him live but the tickets are always ridiculously expensive and no one I know loves his music quite as much as I do. I need to be there with someone who understands. Luckily, Jason seems to enjoy him as well, so off we went, braving the snow and icy conditions of MINUS 5 degrees. It would have to be something special to get me to leave the house in those conditions, and special it was.
photo 2The set started with flames blasting and a big jazz band. After ‘giving us fever’ (song reference…) I realised he is a jazz singer and we were going to sit and listen for a couple of hours. Don’t get me wrong, I love jazz, but I prefer it in the background, while I enjoy a drink and a chat. However, Mr Bublé is not just the most amazing singer, he is also a top-class entertainer. I wasn’t bored for a second.
The crowd loved him. There was a lady in the front holding a sign saying “MB, please make my dream come true: hug and kiss me!” He jumped off the stage, told her to made a new dream and cuddled her. There was barely a dry eye in the arena.
He took us on a date throughout the concert. From the shy beginning of getting to know someone slowly, to holding hands, falling in love and then fireworks and confetti blasted out. My favourite thing was to see how much he was obviously enjoying himself. Of course he is being paid, but he went into the crowd, meeting his fans. He introduced all his band members and you could tell their was friendship between them all. I believe he is so popular because he comes across as a really decent guy who loves what he is doing. Plus, he has a naughty sense of humour that Jason and I enjoyed, but I’m not sure how much the mostly German audience appreciated or understood it, which is a shame. I won’t tell you what he said, as I’m an English lady and things like that shouldn’t be repeated. Ahem. The Germans were singing and dancing along the whole time. I was also impressed when they blasted out All You Need Is Love at the top of their voices, while heart confetti rained down upon us.
photo 3I don’t understand why the whole world doesn’t listen to his voice all day long. I mean, have you heard the Christmas album? It’s so good that I listen to it all through the year. An ex-housemate even said she was starting to miss Bublé’s voice in the house. Jason says my obsession makes me a Bublétte – and I think you should all join me! If you are still not convinced, come and visit me. By the end of the trip you will be fluent in the words of most of his songs – haha!
Well, that’s it. One of the best concerts I have ever been to. When he threw off the audio equipment and removed his microphone and sung without any enhancements right at the end before going behind the curtain I can’t even pretend a little tear or two didn’t fall down my cheeks. It was a magical evening. I got to see my favourite ever artist whilst cuddling my favourite ever man. I can’t wait for it all to happen again!
