I wanna be like you…
In May, my colleague laughed at me when he saw me walking around the office in Birkenstocks just after we returned from Germany. He said I was taking the whole “German thing” too far. Just because we are moving over there doesn’t mean we automatically have an excuse to wear ugly shoes. (Can I just point out at this point that he wears yellow crocs in the office…)
IBirkenstocks guess wearing sandals to work isn’t really appropriate anyway, but it is so hot! And I know the UK doesn’t really get hot for long, but it is stifling in the office without any air conditioning or fans and it gets stuffy. The windows don’t open fully and there is no breeze. So to me, sandals make sense. Plus they are so comfortable. I’m a typical girl anyway with five pairs of shoes lying under my desk. One for that emergency meeting, one pair of leopard print stilettos I have been trying to break in for years, one super comfy pair in case I have to run off to cover a story (these have been used once when we literally sprinted out of the office) and a pair of flip-flops – I guess you never know when you might have to spend the day at the beach working hard. Sadly they have yet to be used.
J-stocksAnyway, now we have left the whole employment world, it doesn’t matter what shoes we wear. Also, Jason is obviously starting to take on board the whole “German thing”. He has just ordered a pair of Birkies now too. They are the pinnacle of comfortable footwear. In Germany they have many more styles and colours so I will just recommend them to you and sign off. And no, I do not work for Birkenstocks or do any kind of advertising for them at all. But if I could, I would!
