    Things to do with eggs

Don’t eat them all at once… So, as Jason mentioned yesterday, we haven’t seen any chocolate Easter Eggs on sale here at all. They have the little ones, but I’m talking about those massive hollow ones that are found alongside Maltesers or Mars bars. As children, we used to paint eggs around Easter time. So I thought it would be a good chance to get crafty. Hollowing out the eggs is not the most pleasant of experiences. You need a pin to prick holes at the top and the bottom of your egg. Then you blow really hard, covering one hole with your mouth and pushing the egg contents into…

Counting down to Easter – Part Two

Just when you think posts about Easter chocolate would be over, I’m happy to bring you some more of the amazing treats that Germany has on offer this time of year. Today’s focus is on the many different varieties of delicious looking chocolate rabbits! In England, I’m used to seeing countless chocolate eggs lining the supermarket shelves but to my great surprise, I haven’t seen a single one here. Instead, there are hundreds of these cute and delicious looking treats waiting to be picked up and taken home! I don’t think much more needs to be said about them, just take a look at how amazing they are! If you…

    Counting down to Easter

It’s the final countdown… Well, it’s nearly Easter/ Passover – which means it’s time for copious amounts of chocolate! YES! Here in Germany the most amazing thing ever was discovered by us. We don’t have to wait until the 21st for Easter… oh no… we can enjoy a little bit every single day in April. This is because some absolute genius invented Easter Calenders! Most of them have been eaten now and the 21st is HUGE, so I’m sure there will be a little argument or two over who gets to eat it (I shall undoubtedly win), but we wanted to share this bit of fabulousness with you all! Hope…

    Coming home…

I wanna go home… So today was the most painful at Uniqlo yet. My feet literally have pins and needles and I can’t bend down or move either leg upwards. I spent 8 hours running up and down the stairs (which are totally crazy by the way!) to deliver clothes to all the levels. And I wasn’t allowed to walk, I had to run. So yeah, they told me to enjoy the free ‘UNIQLO diet’. I think it is just a ploy to make us staff lose weight and buy more products… Anyhoo, I got home today and was treated to the below – the highlight of my day! Looks…

    A pharmacy for rats?

We always find ourselves giggling at some German words when we look at them as though they were English words. We spotted this little shop in Magdeburg – a little pharmacy for rats perhaps? Before we moved house, we used to live near the Rathaus (Town Hall) in Neukolln, which always brought a smile to my face when I saw it. One of my all time favourites is the word to travel (fahren) and its amazing conjugation of Fahrt. Yes, I am like a small child. But I cannot help laughing when I see things like “Fahrt endet hier” or “Gute Fahrt” or “Ausfahrt”. I hope I never grow up…

    Travelling with dog

Who let the dogs out? A few short months ago, I would happily tell people that I didn’t like dogs. Or cats. Or any animals really, except pigs. I have always wanted a pig. They rock! But recently I have become a bit of a dog fan. I’m still a bit scared of big dogs and mini dogs will always be rats on a leash to me, but little dogs with personalities are something I am starting to like. It’s easy for Jason, his family have always had dogs, but I feel if you haven’t had a dog growing up, then they take some getting used to. This is Vincent.…

    Happy Monday Magnum again!

Round and round we go… So it seems to have become somewhat of a tradition to have a new Magnum flavour filling up our Happy Monday posts. Today I am going to shake it all up and introduce a new Magnum style: Look at these little cuties!!! They are the same colour and size as my nail varnish! And they are so small, it would be rude to eat only one… hehe! *Just a quick edit to make sure you are all careful when eating these and then wanting more. I know it’s still morning, but on the way to getting my fifth magnum (don’t judge me – I do…

    Choo-chooooo

Hello everyone, I hope you have had a lovely weekend! It has been a very busy one here for Team L&A but next week you are in for a treat – over the next few days, we are going to give you an insight into our recent trip to the Harz National Park in Germany! As a little sneak preview of the week to come, here is a snapshot of a wonderful steam train we rode down the side of a mountain! I was so excited to ride it – you could hear the whislte echoing through the forests!

Excuse me, there's a bit of London in my Berlin

A few days after we moved into our lovely new home, I was back in the moving van helping my friend move across the city. After hours of heavy lifting picking up furniture, plants and mattresses, I was treated to a delicious chicken schwarma dinner as a reward (I had to get food somewhere into this post!) and set off back home. Imagine my surprise when I stepped off the U2 Train at Wittenburgplatz and spotted this in my exhausted state: I genuinely had to do a double-take and my brain for the slightest of moments thought I had somehow travelled back to London without realising. This design of the…

    Uniqlo comes to Germany!

It’s been a long time coming… So, today is the big day. Uniqlo opens its doors in Germany. And today I will give you an inside view, because for the past few weeks I have been working there part-time. Some of you may know about the training that Uniqlo staff receive. Saying it’s hardcore is putting it lightly. I have never had training like this in my life! I have worked in a shop before and the products were pointed out to me, before I was told to sell as much as possible. Not so useful in hindsight. So, back to the training I received: The first week was classroom-style.…
