Once a Berliner, always a Berliner…

D’oh… nut… mmmmmmm, doughnut…
Exactly 50 years ago today, John F Kennedy made his famous speech that included the phrase “ich bin ein Berliner”. It still makes me giggle now – imagining a President standing up in front of a huge audience saying that he is in fact a doughnut. You couldn’t have made it up!
I have to say I can’t wait to be a Berliner. Two more days at work and then freedom. It’s always sad to leave a job you love and my colleagues are amazing. I could not have wished for a better team of people to work with and train me on my journey into the world of journalism. It’s been an experience and a half and the farewell parties have been very draining and emotional. I guess it is better to be sad than happy to leave a group of people you have spent such a great amount of time with.
As we are off so soon, our days are filled with paperwork, informing people of our move and also guests. Copious amounts of guests. We had people from Germany this week as well as Japan and now we are awaiting Swedish and American friends over this weekend. I am also turning 30 on Saturday. It is a time for change. One friend sees birthdays as a time to reassess and change the negative things in life. I like this train of thought and bought myself a new diary, Day One is the 1st of July 2013. A new diary and a new start.
However first I need to sort out my teeth. Sadly I need three fillings so I’m off to the dentist. It seems I eat too many sweets. Oh dear. Going to the dentist is never an experience to look forward to, but it is important to get all the health issues sorted out before we are off. Now I’m just sitting in the dentist’s reception area waiting for my name to be called. Then I plan to go to the supermarket for a Berliner to celebrate. Although I’m not too sure my dentist would be happy with me eating doughnuts…

Go for that donut! You deserve it. Tis the begging of this break your body needs I think.
I am still stuck in le crazy Japan, but as soon as I can, I go back to Europe… And party’s on, Berlin or elsewhere! I know you are always ready. Tu es du fromage, that’s why.
Noam, Melody and I wish you a happy birthday and good luck on your next adventures…
    Love,
    Frenchie^^

      Hey Frenchie Family,
Merci beaucoup! I had a lot of cheese yesterday too, especially as British cheese is the best in the world… luckily German cheese is much much better than Japanese cheese.
Please move to Berlin asap – that would be amazing!
