Neukölln Market

This little piggy went to market
photo 1When we were in Berlin at the beginning of the year to scout out our apartment, we saw posters showing information about a market literally five minutes walk from our house. We have been so busy over the weekends that we hadn’t managed to get there yet, but finally last Sunday we did.
It is a flea-market, everything is super cheap and super tacky. I could have sold all the bags full of stuff I brought to the charity shops before moving to Berlin at this market.
photo 2Most of the goods on sale was second-hand stuff you just don’t really need. However, between the stained T-shirts and broken high-heeled shoes, there were some gems just waiting to be found.

Material was in abundance, scarves and ties for €1, old jewellery, clothing, books, jigsaws, games… all the normal bits and bobs you find in a flea-market at home. However, there were also some upmarket things for sale: home-made knitted and sewn garments, spectacular earrings, beautiful broaches and a variety of cakes and vegan ice lollies. There is definitely something for everyone and if you find yourself with a load of stuff you want to sell, you can get yourself a table and get involved (http://www.nowkoelln.de/seiten/anmeldung).

We ended up with a fabulous red glass plate, which will go perfectly in my ideal future kitchen. Plus, one day we too plan to get a stall and get selling, we just need to figure out what to sell…
