It goes squeak in the night

Three blind mice, three blind mice. See how they run…

The evidence was found in the morning. A small piece of green tea cake wrapped up in plastic has been nibbled at three corners and the cake had obviously been enjoyed immensely. This time however the attack had come at the top of the stairs.

To bring you up to speed: Herbert (Herby for short) was first spotted about a month ago. Jason was calmly watching TV when a black dot scarpered across the living room floor well past bedtime. Thinking it was an enormous and fast spider, he proceeded to vacuum the room like a crazed man. However, to everyone’s surprise, the next morning the bin bag had been nibbled and food was found on the kitchen floor. It could only have been a mouse (I’m not going to consider the possibility of rats…).

The Evidence

A trap was set and inside it a layer of delicious nutella.
But no mouse was ever found inside the trap.
And anyway, we now know that mice prefer green tea cake.
This is something I didn’t need just before moving to Berlin. It does need to be dealt with though. So another trap will be set tonight on the top of the stairs. Maybe the mouse (mice?) can enjoy one last bite of that green tea cake I was looking so forward to myself. I will keep you updated on developments…
