Home Sweet Home?

I really really really really really really like you…
Just got back from a three-day visit to London for a hen party (more on that soon). Crazy to think it was the first time we’d been home this year – I haven’t seen my family all year. It’s feels like England is so close and we can just pop over any time, but then life and random holidays get in the way and we just don’t find ourselves back in the Queen’s country enough. I LOVED being home. I miss my family, my friends, the tube (I know I’m weird), Oyster cards, two-pound coins, people being polite, service in the shops and restaurants (I’m still in shock how nice they are), grey squirrels, curry takeaways, Chinese takeaways, afternoon tea, English people speaking English, pubs, everything open on Sundays… Even the tap water tastes like home…
Of course there were plenty of things I think are crazy (house prices, drink prices, food prices, a quick supermarket stop for snacks prices, tube lines closed at the weekend…). I don’t know how much longer we will stay in Germany. The lifestyle in Berlin is amazing, but this trip really showed us that it’s people that make a place and Berlin isn’t really working for me… Sad to realise, but I feel like we needed a push to help us to make a decision on what we want to do next. Once we know, we will let you know – but for now check out all the noms I managed to sneak back with me in one tiny suitcase!!

Ha – we got back a few days before you… I wonder if we passed each other on the tube 😉 I am so with you on missing a lot of those things (and not) – this time we went to Manchester to stay with my best mate as well as staying in London and we got a Chinese takeaway. It was the first time I’ve had one in well over 10 years or I reckon! Loved every mouthful of my special fried rice… ever the classy order!!

Haha – we spent so much time on the tube I’m sure we were next to each other and didn’t even notice! I actually found a pretty good Chinese here in Berlin last week – OMG – exciting moment indeed, but it still wasn’t an English Chinese takeaway if you know what I mean 😉
