Top 10 questions I was asked by Japanese People

I’m turning Japanese… I spent nearly 5 years in the Land of the Rising Sun and I absolutely loved it. The food, the kindness of the local people, the food, the great travel destinations, the food… did I mention the food? Because the food is AMAZING! Anyway, I like to write a little bit about Japan on this blog, as it’s still such a big part of my life and it seems people love reading lists, so here is one for you with all some of my answers alongside them. I would like you to know that I was asked some of these questions almost every single day, sometimes repeatedly by…

    Carcassonne – Board game

We play a lot of card and board games here in the L&A HQ and one of our all-time favourites is a cute, little game called Carcassonne. The game is super simple to play. On your turn, you simply draw a random square tile and place it on the table to form an ever-growing map of the landscape surrounding Carcassonne (which is actually a real place in Southern France and on the must-visit list). Each tile will feature part of the landscape – a city, a road, a church or farmland and must be placed next to existing tiles which continue the same pattern. For example, a road next to a…

    Wonderful Neighbours

Everybody needs good neighbours… Our last post about our neighbours was one of L&A’s most popular posts ever. The man living below us was so aggressive and rude that we ended up calling the police. Luckily he is but a horrible distant memory now, as our new neighbourhood in Steglitz is wonderful. It’s green, quiet and full of people that will greet you when you are walking around town. When we moved in, our closest neighbour came to greet us and we often have little chats with the family upstairs, as their kids seem to be constantly outside our door. Occasionally we will hear the vacuum cleaner going from the people…

    New Year's Traditions in Germany

Happy New Year! Are you all still recovering from a crazy NY in Berlin? OMG – have to say it was pretty wild here – I’m surprised there are any fireworks left in the whole country – no wonder so many people go to Poland to get them 😉 It was our first NY here in Germany and we enjoyed the experience very much. Christmas Presents

Dear Santa, please bring me… I have to say this year was pretty amazing for presents. I will let you in on a little secret. My dream home has a red kitchen, wooden floors and a record player in the corner. It has now officially come true. As kids, my parents played non-typical music at home. The Bhundu Boys from Africa were probably most-played throughout our childhood. Click on the link – it’s just beautiful music! We would wiggle our bottoms and stand on our father’s feet while we danced around the living room for hours. We were so happy when we were finally old and mature enough to be…
