Working with Dog.

We have travelled with dog so the next natural step would be to work with dog. Sadly, we don’t have a dog (yet!) to bring with us to work but I was greatly surprised by how common it is in Germany to bring your pooch to the workplace.
A good friend of ours in Berlin takes his dog to work every day and he, in his words, rolls up “like a cinnamon bun” and relaxes all day. The dog, not him.

As a huge dog fan, I’m really impressed that most workplaces in Germany have such dog-friendly policies. As long as you have the approval of your surrounding colleagues and the dog is well trained, it usually isn’t much of a problem. In fact, almost all of Germany is dog-friendly. We have been to restaurants and cafes where the staff would rush out with a bowl of water and snacks for a dog before even considering bringing the menus to the paying, human customers. Other household pets don’t even get a chance here. The dog is King in Germany and, to be honest, I’m okay with that!

Apparently, June 20th 2014 is Take Your Dog To Work Day over in America and the idea hasn’t quite caught on in the UK yet but every day in Germany can be take your dog to work day if you want it to be!
I sometimes spotted a pug waddling and panting its way into my office building and Vanessa would always ask me to either take a picture with it or steal it and bring it back home. I did neither.
I’m hoping that my cute dog back in Liverpool will manage to visit one day, he’d definitely love hanging out with all the dogs in Berlin, visiting the special dog play parks and doggy swimming pools and maybe, just maybe, I’ll get him rolled up like a cinnamon roll next to me while I work. I can tell you right now however, that its much more likely that he would be trying to sit on my shoulders and licking my face. I’d never get any work done!
That's it - much better! It's a dog's life!
