Happy Monday – Bruno Mars

Treasure, that is what you are…
photo 1I hope it is a HAPPY MONDAY for you. For me it is not overly amazing. I woke up sick. And not just a minor little cold but full blown flu symptoms. I have pushed myself to get out of bed to write this but I will probably find myself tucked up again in a minute. I can say it’s a happy day as Jason is looking after me! Breakfast in bed is a grand thing…
So, back to Bruno. I can’t stop listening to his music so I thought it would be only fair to let you all know. I remember a few years back I went to see him in concert in London. He wasn’t massive yet and had only one or two famous hits. It was a small concert hall and I could see him clearly, even without my glasses on! When a lovely Berlin friend said she had bought two tickets and wanted someone to go with her, I jumped at the chance. Now I know many of his songs, as do a LOT of people it seems. The concert was in the Berlin 02 Centre. It is enormous. We had pretty good seats, but he was still far away in the distance. He played some great music, the show was highly entertaining, the crowd were dancing and singing and fun was had. I screamed and sang so loudly, I felt like I was 13 all over again, watching Boyzone… ahem.
photo 2It was interesting to see so many people watch the entire concert through their mobiles. You can see all the twinkling phone screens in the photo. Some of the people around us literally filmed from the beginning to the end. Non-stop. I don’t know if they even looked up to actually see the man in the flesh once. There were fireworks, Mexican waves, glitter explosions, moving stages… it was fun-packed entertainment from the moment Bruno took to the stage.
The crowd were loving it! When Bruno’s Number One hit ‘Just The Way You Are‘ started, he took a step back and let us do the hard work. I don’t think he even sang a single word of the chorus, as the audience blasted out the words. We showed Bruno how well-acquainted we were with his music. It sounded great in such a big concert hall, at capacity of around 17,000 people. The only thing that was disappointing was the lack of one of my favourite songs: ‘The Lazy Song‘. My friend and I may have tried to learn the dance and I can proudly say it is one of the few songs I can play on the ukulele, so when he left the stage without singing it I was a little shocked. But the rest of the show made up for it by miles! Great entertainment! And finally, on this day of sickness there is only one line left for me to write:
Today I don’t feel like doing anything… I just wanna lay in my bed…
