Happy Monday – Breakfast

Breakfast at Tiffany’s…
photoThis is one of those wonderful posts you all seem to enjoy about food. And while I’m at it, this isn’t just a Monday post but an everyday post. I love breakfast. It may well be my most favourite meal of the day.
While I was working in London, I was so tired all the time I stopped eating breakfast in order to sleep an extra ten minutes in the morning. It meant I was always hungry when I got to work and sleepy too. I would snack all morning and stuff myself during lunch. Not something I recommend.
However, in Germany, breakfast is epic. As we work from home, it means we can get up whenever we like and go to the supermarket for freshly baked buns. The current winner is called Weltmeister Brötchen (World Master Bread Buns) and they definitely live up to their name! They are covered with a variety of seeds not only on the top but also on the bottom. It makes it a difficult decision which side to eat first, as there is no chance of running out of seeds… amazing.
My German grandmother always boils eggs on a Sunday and we adopted that for a while. Now though, we eat an egg every morning. Having warm buns with a runny egg, spreads, cheeses and salami etc makes getting up in the morning a pleasure. Instead of having friends over for dinner and drinks, we often have brunches and sit around for hours deliberating what to eat next. It is an absolute joy! Plus we have been working on making smiley faces on the top of the bread – what do you think?
