Last week our friend Laura mentioned she was going to meet a friend in Hamburg. As a joke I said we were going to join her and to shorten the story for you all, we ended up hiring a car and bringing a Japanese friend along too.

One of my life’s ambitions was to eat a hamburger in Hamburg. For some bizarre reason German people don’t find this statement funny – no wonder they have no sense of humour. Here is the best moment of our trip:
It was taken in the main station as we needed the official Hamburg sign for the photo. Sadly the burger was beyond rubbish. It was from Burger King, which apparently has been hit hard by health inspectors in Hamburg. I wish we had known this and had gone across the platform to MacDonalds instead!
