FAME!

Fame! I’m gonna live forever…
We did it! We got into the paper! And it even advertised our website! I never would have imagined my two grandmothers meeting up in Germany, let alone starring together in the local paper. I’m chuffed! Here it is and I have translated it below.
FAME

Adlum. Now the “Guckhaus” in Adlum Village has received international recognition. A group of Japanese and English people were guests of Mr Klaus-Peter Kreyssig, a member of the local housing association. He gave them a tour of the scenic spots in the village with a population of 600 people. Vanessa Abel, a freelance journalist, who lived in London and worked for Japanese TV in Tokyo for two years and lives in Berlin now with her boyfriend Jason Leather, wrote about her visit excitedly on her website: www.leatherandabel.com: “It reminds me of the charity shops in England, but here everything is free”. Her Japanese grandmother Yaeko Abel, who met and later married a British prisoner of war in Japan, took a cup and saucer with her as a momento. Her friend Sanae Okada, who lives half of the year in Tokyo and the other half in London, was happy to receive a bowl. She said: “It is a great idea. Maybe we can do something similar back home.” The Guckhaus is open every Wednesday from 4-6pm and on Saturdays from 11am-1pm.
*there are a couple of minor errors, for example I worked for a Japanese TV company in London and my grandparents met in England but it’s still highly exciting.
