    New Favourite Cheesecake Found!

Happy Birthday to Jason… It was a few weeks ago that Jason got even older. He will always be my toyboy of course, but he’s slowly catching up to me. Haha. He got a fabulous guitar for his special day from Just Music and I’d been told about a friend’s favourite cake place the day before, so off we went to explore. Bravo Bravko Kuchenwerkstatt is absolutely nothing-even-slightly exciting. Two massive long tables and a cheesecake counter. However, the canteen feel means you can see the cakes being freshly made and ordering was hard as everything looked delicious. Jason’s favourite is anything lemon-flavoured, so we got the lemon cheesecake and the…

    The unexpected cheesecake…

It’s been a while… We haven’t updated you with our latest cheesecake findings in Berlin for some time – and this will change right now 😉 We have often popped into Engels for brunch or a quick beer and a catch up with local friends, but this is the first time we tried their cake. It wasn’t the most perfect of experiences. Two German ladies cut in the queue in front of us. It annoyed me no end, but there is only a tiny window of opportunity in which you can reprimand them and we didn’t jump at it. So they ordered before us. I had decided to get the…

    Ramen Noodles in Berlin

Yummy Yummy Yummy, I got Love in my Tummy… So, staying on the Japanese theme today, I will tell you about one of my favourite meals. In England, when you have been out partying hard, nothing beats a kebab and a strawberry milkshake. In Japan, Ramen is what you need. A noodle soup that will warm the cockles of your heart. Such a greasy and filling meal, it basically guarantees you not to be hungover the next day. A miracle food. I have to even admit that once I had two bowls. Different areas in Japan have different specialities when it comes to Ramen. My favourite are the Tonkotsu Ramen…

    Local cheesecake

Gimme more… We found a local bakery with some amazing cheesecake, so we just had to share it with you all. The guy who used to live in our apartment told us it was his favourite in all of Berlin – and I can see why. Very thick and creamy, you literally end up with an entire mouthful of a slowly melting lump of cake in your cheeks. The base could have been a bit more crunchy, but it’s much much better than most of those we have found recently. We haven’t written about cheesecake in a long time, but that’s only because we haven’t found any worth writing about,…

Barcomis is more than just cheesecake

Tasty morcels… I know, I know… I am trying to give you all ideas for places to eat whilst in Berlin and it shouldn’t all be just about cheesecake. So here is a post about some food that ends in cheesecake. Ahem. So we have been to Barcomis many many times. We blogged about their cheesecake here. I can’t even tell you how times we have eaten it, as I have lost count. When you find that perfect cake and lovely cafe with service that is actually nice (normally impossible to find here in Berlin), you just keep going again and again. Bizarrely however, we only even went for cheesecake…

    Green Tea Cheesecake

You say tomato… I say CHEESECAKE! So due to our continuous love and desire to find the best cheesecake in Berlin, once again we have done some research. This place is Jason’s current favourite, so take note people! Today we are going to go Japanese on you. Jason and I both lived in Japan for many years and so we obviously have a bit of an obsession with Japanese food. And that includes matcha (green tea), whether the drink or the flavour of ice cream. Some of our Japanese friends here mentioned that the matcha cheesecake at Mamecha was a bit epic, so off we went. I have to say,…

    Best location for cheesecake

Om nom nom nom nom… It’s another cheesecake post! And this one is partly being blogged about for it’s taste and partly for it’s amazing surroundings. Our favourite bookstore in Berlin is Dussmann. It is centrally located and not only has a section full of boardgames but also a whole bookstore inside devoted to English books. Plus it’s usually open until midnight and in the winter it’s lovely and warm. Then if you go downstairs, there are free toilets (always good to know where to find these in Berlin) and a café. The walls of the café are alive! They have planted greenery that grows up the walls. The water…

    A sausage fest

So many sausages, so little time… Okay, this post may not be about what you are thinking. Maybe I should have written a sausage festIVAL, but it’s hard to resist a little naughtiness here and there. Anyhoo… to the sausages! We found out about an event that was advertised as: Sausage and Beer Festival. Without even thinking about it we started telling our friends about it and a few hours later a group of us we were in Markthalle Neun (which also has possibly the best cheesecake every Thursday evening in Berlin). I have to be honest with you all here. One of the reasons we moved to Berlin are…

    Tokyo Cheesecake in Berlin

Je suis du fromage… Yup, another post about cheesecake. This one is from my favourite ramen (Japanese noodle soup) restaurant in Berlin: Cocolo. It means heart in Japanese and should be written Kokoro. Normally after a huge bowl of soup and noodles I’m too full for dessert, but just for all of you, when I saw the word ‘cheesecake’ I thought it would be rude not to order it. I don’t really the relevance is of calling it Tokyo Cheesecake. Maybe it was the stunning presentation of the cake. Or how little the portion was in comparison to the normal German slice of nomminess. Perhaps it was the top layer…

The best cheesecake I have found in Berlin Part 2

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake baker’s man, Bake me a cake as fast as you can… So this isn’t the first post about cheesecake and it probably won’t be the last (here and here). But this one needs to be talked about! Guys, this is possibly the best cheesecake I have ever eaten. And in my lifetime I have eaten (and made) a LOT of cheesecake. A lot of cows have been milked in order to feed my cheesecake cravings. In fact, I could probably write a whole book on these tasty slices but instead I will write a little blog post and tell you about my current favourite. I have devoted a…
