    Life Update

Sorry… Firstly I’d like to say sorry for not even posting last week. In fact it’s been so long without a peek from us, that we are left wondering if any of you are still there? Haha… We moved to Liverpool at the beginning of December. We’ve actually been working on an exciting project that hopefully soon I can tell you about. We are going to be creating our own work, as one thing we realised in Berlin was that working 9-5 five days a week for someone else just doesn’t do it for us. I like to work. I like to be pushed and learn new things. I’ve had…

    Clothes Swap

Getting out of the closet 😉 So, our wardrobe is actually bursting. We have so much inside that I can’t find anything I want to wear. So when I saw Janet’s Big Blog Clothes Swap I thought it would be a perfect chance to rid myself of some clutter, whilst making some blogging friends. For some reason I didn’t think about getting more clothes in exchange – haha. I was paired up with the lovely Llinos from The Lilac Linett. She blogs from Wales about her experience of getting cancer at just 12 years of age, crafting, crochet and fitness amongst many other things. It was weird to be stalking a stranger,…

    Interview with Blogger Charlotte Steggz

Vanessa: I met Charlotte in Japan many years ago and I read her blog more than any other. We have so much in common, having both studied Japanese and lived in Japan for many years and then living in Germany. We were delighted to grab an interview with her and tell you about her exciting new project: podcasts! L&A: We love your blog. Tell us all about it! Hehe thank you. I love your blog too! I started blogging when I was in Japan as a student. I’ve always liked telling people stories, so I found it easy to tell people stories of my life there. When people responded really…

Living in Germany for exactly one year…

Happy Birthday to us! Vanessa: Yup, exactly one year ago today, we set foot on the land of sausages and beer. We would like to say thank you to all of you for reading, whether you were there from the start or you have joined us during our journey. It’s been a fabulous year, full of cheesecake, finding a beer I actually enjoy drinking, making some amazing friends and doing a variety of jobs. We have moved into the most amazing apartment ever and Jason has amassed a huge collection of board games. I have dabbled into photography and gardening, whilst trying to get my craft on. It’s been so much…

    Happy Valentine's Day!

Love is all around… It’s that one special day of the year. It’s a bit of a Marmite situation, you either love it or you loathe it. I will just say that for me, it’s a normal day. I don’t know what is particularly romantic about a day in February. It’s dark, cold and often rainy. If you are single, you are made to feel like you should hide away. If you are in a relationship, you are forced to buy presents and go on a romantic dinner date. It doesn’t feel natural and judging by the faces of the people in the restaurant, most of the time they too…

    Our first blog award!

Celebrate good times, come on! YEY!! We received our first blog award! I’m loving the life of a blogger and learning all the skills that come with regular writing, taking nice photographs and learning about putting together websites. It’s challenging but very enjoyable and it’s lovely to have that recognised! The rules of this award are: – Thank the person who nominated you! – Share 7 things about yourself! – Nominate bloggers! – Notify the nominees! – Put the logo of the award on your blog! So here I go: We would like to thank inevertoldher for nominating our blog for this award. Her beautiful writing reads like poetry. Her…

    The Tag Cloud

Ãœber den Wolken… So, I’ve been busy working on the blog again. And I wanted to bring it to your attention as you may or may not have noticed. Go to the homepage and on the right of the blog posts are some exciting new features. I have always enjoyed something called a Tag Cloud, although I only recently learnt the term for this. It is the blue writing that you use to tag your posts. The more tags of the same category, the bigger the font becomes. As we mostly write about food, you are probably not surprised that the biggest text letters are actually the words nom nom…

NaBloPoMo – A post every day in February!

Don’t stop believing… So, NaBloPoMo – any idea what that stands for? It’s National Blog Posting Month. Here at Leather and Abel we enjoy a good challenge, so we are (hopefully) going to put up a daily blog post for you to enjoy. I’m sure on occasion you will just get a photo or a line of text, but other days will be gems of our life here and awesome things to do in Berlin – including where to get more cheesecake… If you are really lucky you might even get a whole list of stuff to do in Dresden (here is hoping that post finally gets written – ahem).…

    Jumping on the blogging train

Why don’t you write me, I’m out in the jungle, I’m hungry to hear you? Recently I was visited by my lovely friend Charlotte (of Sherbert and Sparkles fame). I’ve never been much of a reader of blogs, but I am trying and I love her writing style as well as what she writes about. Having found a blogging friend who also writes about her experiences abroad, I quizzed her for any advice she had. Apparently, the new “fashion” is writing a short thank you to something random on a Friday. Apparently there are lots of blogs that do this. Have a search if you have time… She also told…
