Sunshine in Berlin!
We’re all going on a summer holiday… OMG people – it’s been confirmed. I know for sure that moving to Germany was the best decision ever. Here is the reason: Like seriously now people – wow! It’s hotter than Ghana!!! And I haven’t seen rain or even a little rain cloud for weeks – just glorious sunshine with steaming hot temperatures. This is the way life is meant to be lived. Everyone is outdoors till late barbeque-ing. There is a constant smell of meat cooking in the distance. Berlin is surrounded by lakes that are just waiting to be jumped in and swum around in. The water is clear and…

Doggy Parking
A quick little update today – Summer seems to have arrived in Berlin and we took advantage of the weather to take a nice long walk this afternoon. Along the way, Vanessa spotted this cute metal frame for parking your bicycles… and dogs! Another great example of how incredibly dog friendly Berlin is!

Hamburg in a Weekend
Hamburger-a-gogo So, here is a round-up of everything to do in Hamburg. The only thing we didn’t find is cheesecake that’s worth writing about… I guess we will have to go again 😉 If you can manage to time it right and get to Hamburg for the Hafenfest you are in for a treat. It’s the biggest port festival in the world and the boats even dance ballet. Yes, you read that correctly, the boats dance together. You have to see it to believe it. You might even come across the Titanic! Walk along the promenade – you can walk to the sandy beaches, walk under the Elbe River in…

Finding The Beatles in Hamburg
Hamburg is Germany’s biggest port city and used to be the one of the biggest port cities in Europe, just like my hometown – Liverpool. Coming from Liverpool, I’ve always wanted to visit Germany’s equivalent and see if it is anything like the place I was raised. I’m glad to say I enjoyed the city immensely and I learnt that another famous bunch of Liverpudlians were quite keen on the city as well. I guess you don’t need any guesses to whom I’m referring to… Wherever I go in the world, I’m very lucky that everyone I meet knows exactly where Liverpool is and a couple of things it is…

Cheese Mountain
We recently had two of our closest friends from England come visit Berlin for a lovely weekend trip. They showed up at the door with two bags. One bag had all their clothes/toiletries for the weekend, the other was stuffed to the brim with tea (after our near crisis a few weeks ago) CHEESE! Lots and lots of CHEESE! Just look above. Take a good long look. That’s more cheese than I’ve ever seen in my life! Needless to say, a new bar has been set for future visitors to Berlin 😉 haha Despite the sheer quantity, one whole block disappeared the following morning over when we all sat down…

Hamburg's fish market
It all smells a bit fishy… Somehow we managed to get up early and drive into Hamburg to catch the fishmarket on the Sunday. The weather dribbled as it seemed to the entire time we were there, but it was worth it. After months of MEAT MEAT and more MEAT it was a bit strange to have to choose between different fish to eat. Germany is all about pork and all of a sudden we saw an array of seafood – I hadn’t seen such a choice since Japan actually. You can buy chickens in cages, kissing rabbits and pet fish alongside the most beautiful fruit baskets I have ever…

Favourite Photo in Hamburg
Snap! I have been trying to take more and better photos and we took a LOT in Hamburg. It’s a city with so many things to look at and see – and it needed to be documented. However, my favourite shot of the weekend was this one. You have probably seen these ‘Locks of Love’ all over. It started a few years ago and it was all inspired by the book I Want You by Federico Moccia, an Italian author. All of a sudden, locks inscribed with the names of lovers were attached to lampposts and bridges all over Italy. In Venice, lovers would attach their lock onto the bridge…
