    Cologne in One Day

Putting on cologne in Cologne… As promised, I’m going to give you a little mash-up of our short trip to Cologne. It’s the second time I’ve been, last time for the Xmas markets, but because Jason’s not seen the Dom yet and we were literally in the area, plus one of my favourite friends and her dog lives there, we just had to pop in for two days. One day we spent in the lovely shop my friend has and another we explored the town… not only food, but mostly food… ahem… So, without further ado, here’s what you must see, do and EAT: I love how the minute you…

Burger and Lobster Restaurant in London

Under the sea… This place is a gem! I planned to just lump all the food we ate in London into one long post, but seriously this place needs its own mention. Burger and Lobster is one of those delicious restaurants definitely not for vegetarians. My favourite thing about the place is that there are just three things on the menu: burger, lobster or lobster roll. Literally no traipsing through the menu trying to decide what to eat – although just choosing one of those three options was hard for me! I originally heard about this place from my colleague when I was working in London many years ago. He…

Sabor Latino – best Peruvian in Berlin?

I’m just a little bit caught in the middle… A friend who also has the dream to go live in South America has been talking about going to this restaurant together for a while. She has a lot of Peruvian friends and Sabor Latino is their favourite place to eat. We were the only non-Spanish speaking people in the restaurant. It was buzzing with staff who knew all the customers and everyone was having a good time. It’s always a good sign when it’s full of Latinos who are obviously regulars here. We were recommended the Ceviche, which was by far the most delicious dish – a mix of seafood…

    Best Pancakes in Berlin

Eggs, milk and flour, pancake power, look at his milky yellow sunshine face flip it now flip it good ooh, flip it now flip it good ooh… Sunday brunching is one of my favourite ever things! When the girls from work suggested pancakes I couldn’t say no, and I think you will all be thanking them too after looking at these beautiful nommy photos! My favourite thing about the place is the menu. You have six styles of pancake to choose from and that’s it. No faffing about – two of us shared the WTF (ahem) – bacon and maple syrup. It was so thick – the length of my thumb and…

    Salt n Bones –

Don’t worry… we have meat in ze building… We have finally found the perfect place for meat!! Can I get a ‘whoop whoop‘ please? Although the burgers at The Bird are pretty hard to beat, the service is appalling. At Salt n Bone the meat is amazing, they have tons of beers and ciders to choose from and the staff are so friendly I felt like I was back in America. We went there hungry and sat outdoors in the sunshine. The three of us shared some scotch eggs (yup – this can be made into a posh food), kimchi and the 2-person meat-platter. Now if I’m honest I could have eaten the…

    Green Eggs and Ham

We have all had those moments when hunger pangs hit you suddenly and you find yourself pacing around the kitchen looking for anything even remotely edible to fill the sudden hole in your stomach. Luckily, today on L&A, we’d like to share with you a current favourite recipe that can be prepped, cooked and eaten within 5 minutes. That’s right, a delicious hot meal in about the same time it takes to make a bowl of cereal (at least how long it takes me to make cereal when I’m stumbling around the house blurry eyed at 6am). Introducing the wonder that is… Pesto Pancakes! They may not be the most…

Vanille & Marille Ice Cream Shop

Too much traffic in my head… It’s getting really hot in Berlin. We had our first BBQ this week and got nice face tans but bit crispy arm burns… but the good news is that ICE CREAM solves everything and I have tried yet another delicious place I want to tell you all about. Vanille & Marille is in the South-West part of Berlin in the suburb area. It’s down a tiny street and unless you know it’s there, you wouldn’t go. What’s not to love? The place is bright pink, the staff serve with a smile and there are tons of flavours to choose from. They try and source their…

    Piazza Michelangelo Restaurant

It’s a-Mario… I’m not sure we’ve even told you about Jason – he has a foot injury and can barely walk. It’s been almost two weeks and an X-Ray, MRI scan and various doctors have told him to keep off his leg and rest. Difficult when you’re hungry, so we tried out the closest restaurant for dinner last week and it was delicious. While in England the restaurants seem to be mostly Indian or Chinese, here there are Italian restaurants littered on every corner. I think it’s expensive and so easy to cook at home, that Ristorante Piazza Michelangelo was actually one of the first Italian restaurant we have been to…

    Ramen Noodles in Berlin

Yummy Yummy Yummy, I got Love in my Tummy… So, staying on the Japanese theme today, I will tell you about one of my favourite meals. In England, when you have been out partying hard, nothing beats a kebab and a strawberry milkshake. In Japan, Ramen is what you need. A noodle soup that will warm the cockles of your heart. Such a greasy and filling meal, it basically guarantees you not to be hungover the next day. A miracle food. I have to even admit that once I had two bowls. Different areas in Japan have different specialities when it comes to Ramen. My favourite are the Tonkotsu Ramen…

    Best Pizza in Berlin?

More cheeeeeeese!! I’m not the biggest fan of pizza. Maybe I ate too much of it or something, but I can’t really get excited about a pizza at a restaurant or takeaway. Then Jason came into my life and started hand-making the base and I got to do the toppings. Now that’s my kind of pizza. I don’t want a load of dough and crust. I want a thin base to hold lots of delicious flavours. I need to be swimming in cheese and I don’t want to chew constantly, I just want it to almost slide down into my stomach. So when a group of us were out and…
