    Christmas Cards

Santa Claus is coming to town… OMG – I injured my wrist weeks ago and I’m still wearing a brace and the pain is just constant. No idea what I’ve done but it’s not good. Basically, it’s hard to write and draw and generally use my right hand at all. I’m back at work, but I’m pretty useless there. I’m trying not to moan about it, but it’s basically sh*te. It hurts and it’s inconvenient. That’s also why our Christmas Cards this year are especially late. Ahem. But in my defence, they are absolutely adorable! Even cuter than last year – check them out!

    Tom Sawyer Restaurant

I’m a little teapot, short and stout… Officially my favourite restaurant in Japan! This is an amazing post for you all. I lived in Japan for almost five years and have eaten literally all kinds of weird and wonderful things, from stuff that’s definitely still alive or smells highly inedible. There has been a lot of very cheap meat on rice alongside priceless sushi. In comparison to Berlin, the customer service is amazing, but I have never had bad service anywhere in Japan, so picking my absolute favourite place is difficult. However, Tom Sawyer in Komono Town, Mie Prefecture wins every time. And here is why: – Hiro is the coolest restaurant…

    My Japanese Birthday

Happy Birthday to me… Today is my Japanese birthday. As we are trying to finally write up all our Japan travels from this summer, I thought it would be rude not to tell you about a special day that happened many many years ago in Japan. When I was 18 and freshly out of college (high school for those of you reading from across the pond), I was given the chance to go to Japan for 5 months to help bridge the gap between Japan and the UK. I had always wanted to go to Japan, I mean I LOVE the food – but 5 months was a little longer…

    Kurashiki

In the good old days… Both Jason and I have been to Kurashiki before, but it’s so beautiful and we had a couple of hours to spare between leaving Hiroshima and arriving in Shimane, so when we looked for a fun stop-off, we both knew two hours would be enough to run around and make the best of this little historical city. There is a Starbucks at the station for my daily Matcha Frappachino fix. Drink in hand, we walked the ten minutes towards the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. You can wander the little alleyways, littered with cafes and cute shops, take a stroll along the river – you can…

    Friday Links

Do you hear what I hear? I now want to go to Karlsruhe for the food walking tour. Beautiful and easy homemade winter decorations. Here are the 10 types of expat that roam the world! Happiness levels of the whole world – do we need to move perhaps? Anyone out there asked santa for these? A have a new favourite blogger – and she wrote all about how to have a conscious Christmas! The article is in German BUT the fashion in Japan is currently to have your teeth either chipped shorter or to put add-ons on your teeth in order to look “cute” like here… YEY – in German again…

L&A featuring all over the place…

We are here, We are there, We are everywhere! As not all of our readers are on Facebook, we wanted to give you all a chance to see where we have been featured over the past few days! Multicoolty is a fabulous website I found recently, with foreigners telling their stories about living in Germany. Read our interview here. We were asked by Emerald Waterways to write about the differences between Germany and our home. I didn’t realise it was meant to be a short paragraph and ended up writing an essay – haha! Check out Number Five here. And if you want to make sure you don’t miss out on other…

    It's SNOWING!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr… It’s snowing! OMG it’s snowing! Whoooop – and the snowflakes are MASSIVE! I’m gutted I can’t quite get it on photos as it’s melting as soon as it arrives but you can see it here on my Xmas jumper – lots of snow flakes remains. I have to say I’m now terrified of February – the actual coldest month of the year, if at the beginning of December it’s already snowing. Last year we had three days of snow and -20 degrees, however the year before it was snow and ice and freezing for three months. I’m not sure I can survive that, especially as last year on Day…

    St. Nicholas Day in Germany

Today, December 6th, marks the celebration of St. Nicholas Day in many Christian countries around the world. I had never heard of it before when living in England. That was until I met Vanessa… and now she showed me exactly how it is celebrated in Germany every year since! Different countries mark the day in different ways but Germany does it with lots of sweets and candy. German children will put a Nikolaus-Stiefel (a Nikolaus-Boot) or a pair of shoes outside their house during the evening on 5th December. Then, St. Nicholas will come along during the night and leave a little surprise in the shoes depending on your behaviour during the…

    What's wrong with grey hair?!

Growing old gracefully… This post has nothing to do with Berlin, cheesecakes or sausages, but it is something I would like to discuss. Twice this week, people have mentioned to me how awful going grey is. I am 31. There is nothing I can do about this fact and I’m actually completely unbothered about it. So what that I’m older than Jason and so what that I’m unmarried and don’t have children yet. I am not as young as I once was, but every single one of us grows older every single second. I’m the same as every single other person on this planet. Last week I met up with…
